Get involved with ISPAH – multiple position vacancies

ISPAH is looking for volunteers to fill multiple positions. Below are descriptions for what each position would entail, along with the preferred skillset for each position, expected time commitment per week, and duration of the position.

For reference, ISPAH’s organisational chart is included to provide an understanding of where each position fits within the broader structure of ISPAH. All positions are voluntary (unpaid).

Co-Editor – ISPAH News (Communications Committee) 

Expected time commitment 

4 hours per month. 

Description 

ISPAH News is the official monthly newsletter of ISPAH, with an estimated audience reach of 5000 physical activity professionals. ISPAH is looking to appoint a co-editor to produce and distribute the monthly Newsletter in collaboration with the existing Co-Editors. ISPAH currently uses MailChimp to distribute the monthly newsletter. Some knowledge of the MailChimp platform is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided for this position. 

Roles 

  • To work closely with the two other Co-Editor of ISPAH News 
  • To respond to requests to disseminate information via MailChimp from the ISPAH Communications Chair 
  • To co-produce the ISPAH Newsletter (‘ISPAH News’) monthly, alongside the other Co-Editors. 
  • To gather and collate content relevant to the Newsletter. 
  • To increase the audience reach of the Newsletter 
  • To respond to ad-hoc requests to share content via MailChimp on behalf of Councils and Committees  
  • To work closely with IT Systems, ISPAH Membership, ISPAH Advocacy and ISPAH Executive. 
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly. 
  • Role duration is two years, however this is negotiable and extendable.

  • It is a requirement to be a member of ISPAH. 

 

Webinar Producer (Communications Committee) 

Expected time commitment 

2 hours per week. 

Description 

ISPAH hosts and co-hosts approximately 12 webinars per year. This role will lead the set-up of webinars via Zoom as well as attending the webinars to ensure the Zoom technology is fully functional, and troubleshooting technical issues. In addition, the Webinar Producer will co-ordinate the design of an advertising image (using established templates). The Webinar producer will also download, edit and upload the recording of the webinar for ISPAH’s YouTube page and liaise with IT Systems Director to add the video to ISPAH’s website. The Webinar Producer will work with the Communications Committee to disseminate the Webinar advertisement and recording via ISPAH’s communication channels. Knowledge of Zoom webinar platform is desirable, but not essential. Training will be provided for this position.  

Roles 

  • To respond to requests from the Chair of the Communications Committee to set-up a webinar in Zoom, design an advertising image to be shared on social media and via ISPAH News (newsletter), attend the webinar (timezone permitting), record the webinar, download the webinar recording, edit the webinar recording, upload the webinar recording to YouTube.  
  • Assist with translation and captioning of the webinar as requested. 
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly. 
  • Role duration is two years, however this is negotiable and extendable.

Podcast Producer (Communications Committee) 

Expected time commitment 

2 hours per week, up to 8 hours per week, depending on desired commitment. 

Description 

ISPAH wishes to build capacity to host podcasts, initially on an ad-hoc basis, to fit around the activities of ISPAH. This role will involve liaising with speakers, scheduling of podcast recordings, podcast hosting (i.e. interviewing), the recording of podcasts, the editing of podcasts and the publishing of podcasts. 

In addition, this role could expand (6hrs additional per week) to lead the implementation of ISPAH’s Draft Podcast Strategy, alongside the Chair of the Communications Committee. Members and the ISPAH community will be able to submit podcast ideas as a pitch, and if accepted, they will be invited onto the podcast. The podcast producer will be responsible for managing this pitch system, the review of pitches, the commissioning and scheduling of podcasts, the recruitment of Podcast hosts (i.e. interviewers, including the Podcast producer as the interviewer where appropriate), the recording of podcasts, the editing of podcasts and the publishing of podcasts. The Podcast Producer will work with the Communications Committee to disseminate the podcast via ISPAH’s communication channels. Training will be provided for this position. 

Roles 

  • To develop a brief style guide for the podcasts based on the existing Draft Podcast Strategy 
  • To develop an online review process for pitches 
  • To develop a review process for podcast pitches 
  • To commission podcasts, including the scheduling of the speaker and a podcast host (the podcast host may be the Podcast Producer, but may not be) 
  • To record the podcast 
  • To edit the podcast recording ready for publication on podcast channels 
  • To publish the podcast across ISPAH’s podcast channels 
  • To liaise with the ISPAH Communications Committee to disseminate completed podcasts 
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly. 
  • Role duration is two years, however this is negotiable and extendable.

Website Content Producer (Communications Committee) 

Expected time commitment 

1-2 hours per week, up to 4 hours per week, depending on timing of ISPAH-related events/announcements and desired commitment. 

Description 

The ISPAH Website is a primary information dissemination channel used by the Society to communicate with its member and wider non-member audience. ISPAH is looking to expand its capacity for website communications, particularly as relates to announcements of events, creation of blogs and dissemination of webinars relevant to the target audience. This role will work closely with the ISPAH IT Systems director and Communications Committee to identify content for publication on the ISPAH website. In addition, the role will assist with publication of ISPAHs Early Career Network ‘Member of the Month’ profiles and similar projects for other ISPAH Councils/Networks. Knowledge of WordPress is desirable, but not essential. Training in website content management platforms (WordPress, Elementor, Canva) will be provided for this position. 

Roles 

  • To liaise with the ISPAH IT Systems Director and ISPAH Communications Committee to identify content for dissemination on the ISPAH website  
  • To develop and/or disseminate website content including announcementsblog postswebinar recordings, and Member of the Month profiles 
  • To monitor and be responsive to internal communications (MS Teams/email) related to website content tasks 
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly 
  • Role duration is two years, however this is negotiable and extendable
