Get involved with ISPAH – multiple position vacancies

ISPAH is looking for volunteers to fill multiple positions. Below are descriptions for what each position would entail, along with the preferred skillset for each position, expected time commitment per week, and duration of the position.

For reference, ISPAH’s organisational chart is included to provide an understanding of where each position fits within the broader structure of ISPAH. All positions are voluntary (unpaid).

Social Media – Content Generation and Graphic Design (Communications Committee)

Expected time commitment

3 hours per week.

Description

ISPAH has a number of social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) which are used to share ISPAH-owned content and also share the work aligned to ISPAH’s goals and mission statement. ISPAH splits up its social media activity into Content Generation (this role) and Engagement and Interaction (position currently filled). The content generation role involves creating ISPAH-owned content and adding this to our social media scheduling system, Buffer.

The person who takes on this role will have a good understanding of social media, perhaps through personal use of social media. This person will also have skills or an understanding of graphic design, with a willingness to use the online software Canva to create graphics to support social media content.

To ensure a strong connection to ISPAH’s Early Career Network, this position also comes with a second commitment to sit on the Early Career Network Committee of ISPAH.

Roles

  • To work closely with ISPAH’s Social Media Engagement and Interaction role and ISPAH’s Communications Committee Chair
  • To respond to requests from the ISPAH Communications Committee Chair to schedule social media posts within Buffer (ISPAH’s social media content management system)
  • Create graphics (aligned to ISPAH’s brand guidelines) within Canva to support social media posts
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly.
  • To also sit on the Committee of the Early Career Network of ISPAH which meets monthly.
  • Role duration is two years, however, this is negotiable and extendable.

Co-Editor – ISPAH News (Communications Committee)

Expected time commitment

4 hours per month.

Description

ISPAH News is the official monthly newsletter of ISPAH, with an estimated audience reach of 5000 physical activity professionals. ISPAH is looking to appoint a co-editor to produce and distribute the monthly Newsletter in collaboration with the existing Co-Editor. ISPAH currently uses MailChimp to distribute the monthly newsletter. Some knowledge of the MailChimp platform is desirable but not essential. 

Roles

  • To work closely with the Co-Editor of ISPAH News
  • To work closely with IT Systems, ISPAH Membership, ISPAH Advocacy and ISPAH Executive.
  • To co-produce the ISPAH Newsletter (‘ISPAH News’) monthly, alongside the other Co-Editor.
  • To gather and collate content relevant to the Newsletter.
  • To respond to requests to disseminate information from the ISPAH Communications Chair
  • To increase the audience reach of the Newsletter
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly.
  • Role duration is two years, however, this is negotiable and extendable.

Email Triage (Communications Committee)

Expected time commitment

1 hour per week.

Description

ISPAH receives many emails. This position involves checking the ISPAH email address daily and triaging emails to the relevant ISPAH Director (Board Member). We expect this role to take approximately 10 minutes per day.

Roles

  • To check the generic ISPAH email address daily
  • To check the ISPAH Gmail Account weekly
  • To organise a replacement Email Triage during periods of leave.
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly.
  • Role duration is two years, however, this is negotiable and extendable.

  • It is a requirement to be a member of ISPAH.

 

Podcast Producer (Communications Committee)

Expected time commitment

3-6 hours per week.

Description

ISPAH wishes to establish a number of Podcast series. This role will lead the implementation of ISPAH’s Podcast Strategy, alongside the Chair of the Communications Committee. Members and the ISPAH community will be able to submit podcast ideas as a pitch, and if accepted, they will be invited onto the podcast. The podcast producer will be responsible for managing this pitch system, the review of pitches, the commissioning and scheduling of podcasts, the recruitment of Podcast hosts (i.e. interviewers), the recording of podcasts, the editing of podcasts and the publishing of podcasts. The Podcast Producer will work with the Communications Committee to disseminate the podcast via ISPAH’s communication channels.

Roles

  • To develop a brief style guide for the podcasts based on the existing Podcast Strategy
  • To develop an online review process for pitches
  • To develop a review process for podcast pitches
  • To commission podcasts, including the scheduling of the speaker and a podcast host (the podcast host may be the Podcast Producer, but may not be)
  • To record the podcast
  • To edit the podcast recording ready for publication on podcast channels
  • To publish the podcast across ISPAH’s podcast channels
  • To liaise with the ISPAH Communications Committee to disseminate completed podcasts
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly.
  • Role duration is two years, however, this is negotiable and extendable.

Blog Editor (Communications Committee)

Expected time commitment

3-6 hours per week.

Description

ISPAH wishes to establish its own blog. This role will initially lead the development of a plan for establishing a blog, alongside the Communications Committee. The blog will ideally provide member benefits. Ideally, members and the ISPAH community will be able to submit blog-post ideas as a pitch, and if accepted, they will be invited to write the blog. The Blog Editor will be responsible for managing this pitch and writing system, including editing the blog for ISPAH’s audience.

Roles

  • To develop a plan to establish an ISPAH blog
  • To develop a brief style guide for the blog, e.g. word count, imagery, referencing.
  • To develop processes and liaise with the ISPAH IT Systems Director to establish the blog on ISPAH’s website
  • To develop a review process for pitches
  • To develop a review process for commissioned Blog posts
  • To liaise with the ISPAH Communications Committee to disseminate completed blogs via ISPAH-owned channels
  • To sit on the Communications Committee of ISPAH which meets quarterly.
  • Role duration is two years, however, this is negotiable and extendable.

 

Requirements

Membership Tags (Membership Committee)

Expected time commitment

1-3 hours per week.

Description

ISPAH receives new members every week. This position involves checking the ISPAH email address daily for new members and putting the relevant tags to the new members within our member system. We expect this role to take approximately 20 minutes per day.

Roles

  • To support the Membership Committee Chair as requested
  • To attend quarterly Membership Committee meetings
  • To check the generic ISPAH email address daily for new members
  • To update the ISPAH Mailchimp to put on the tags
  • To support the Membership Committee Chair as requested
  • To attend quarterly Membership Committee meetings
  • Role duration is two years, however, this is negotiable and extendable.
